Master of...
Accountancy

Chunmei Yuan, a graduate of the Master of Accountancy program here at the Walton College, was recently awarded the Student Performance Award for her outstanding performance on the Certified in Financial Management (CFM) Examination. To qualify for this award, a candidate must pass all four parts of the exam on the first sitting of each part within a six-month period, as well as be one of the highest-scoring candidates. Award winners, like Chunmei Yuan, score within the top 1% of exam takers.

The Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program is designed to provide professional preparation at the graduate level for students wishing to pursue accounting-oriented careers in public practice, industry and government. Courses at this level help students extend and integrate their accounting knowledge by building on the broad knowledge received in undergraduate courses.

Honor Code
The MAcc program is intended to prepare students for professional careers in accounting. Students should consider this a year to practice the skills required for success in a business environment - a dry run for their first year of employment. As such, students are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. Important traits include punctuality, respect for the opinions and backgrounds of others, striving for excellence in all activities, and ethical conduct. To emphasize these expectations, the faculty has adopted an honor code for the MAcc program. An honor pledge is required for all assignments completed in the program.

"On my honor, I have neither given nor received any unauthorized aid on this [paper, test, assignment], nor have I observed or heard of anyone else doing so."
