  • The group will retain an informal structure. It will not be incorporated, and members of the Board will owe no duty to the Sam M. Walton College of Business. Its officers and members will serve voluntarily in a purely advisory capacity, and accordingly will incur no liability for failure to act upon any matter presented to the Board. Any action taken as a result of, or in spite of, recommendations by the Board will be solely the action of the Sam M. Walton College of Business, and neither the Board nor any member of the Board will be accountable for those actions. The group will focus primarily on providing inputs that will serve to improve the MBA and Managerial MBA (and similar) programs that are offered by the Graduate School of Business at the University of Arkansas.
  • The Board will consist of the MBA Director of the Sam M. Walton College of Business who will act as the Secretary of the Board, the Assistant Dean of the GSB, and Board members. The Dean and Sr. Associate Dean for Graduate Studies of the College will serve as honorary members. A limited number of faculty, staff, and other stakeholders of the Walton College of Business may be invited to some of the meetings at the discretion of the MBA Director.
  • The Chairman of the Board will be elected every year by a vote of board members. The Board Chairman will preside over the meetings of the Alumni Board and will work with the Board Secretary to set the agenda. In the absence of the Chair either the Secretary or a member designated by the Chair shall take on his duties.
  • The Board’s role is of an advisory nature only. The advice of the Board will be used as input by the MBA Director/MBA Strategic Planning Committee, along with input from other sources in developing key strategic initiatives for the Walton College.
  • Objective 1: Strategic Focus of the MBA Program – The Board will make recommendations about future strategic directions of the Walton College MBA programs. The members will also provide input on planned strategic directions and growth of the MBA programs. The MBA Director and the Walton College’s MBA Strategic Planning Committee will consider these and other inputs while developing the MBA program.
  • Objective 2: Advance & Support the goals and strategies of the Walton College MBA programs – Board members will aid the MBA Director in realizing the goals of the MBA Program by serving as ongoing consultants as strategies, programs, and curricula are revised and created.
  • Objective 3: Improve the MBA Brand & Increase Alumni Involvement – Board members will function as ambassadors for the MBA Program and utilize their experience and insight to develop and support ways and means of advancing the presence of the Walton College in the state, the region, and the nation.
  • Objective 4: Occasionally meet and interact with current, potential, and former students of the Walton College in order to further the mission of the College and to more effectively perform Objectives 1 through 3.
